• If you want to be constantly watched and followed every time you touch something, this is the place to go. I visited with a group of five African Americans, and we were immediately targeted and followed around the store as if we were stealing. It was clear we were being racially profiled, based on the harmful stereotype that African Americans are always stealing. Two employees, Liliana and Cass, were particularly aggressive. Liliana approached us and asked, “Can I take that out of your hand for you?” even though we only had one item and didn’t need assistance. Meanwhile, Cass literally chased us around the store. IF I COULD GIVE 0 stars I would! Lilliana also repeated that it was in there policy to chase us around the stores!
• Me and my girlfriend wanted to check out Spencer’s while we were at this outlet mall as we like to do at the Spencer’s in my hometown. We were greeted by a very nice Asian girl who was helpful and disclosed good information about sales when we said we didn’t need any help. However, when we were browsing, we were asked 3 more times by different employees if we needed help. Every time I looked around I saw one of the employees looking at us and stalking as if we were going to steal something, even in the adult section we were watched and pestered. We’re both in our mid 20’s but it felt like we were being profiled and we ended up leaving without buying anything because we were uncomfortable and felt like we couldn’t browse without being watched. This never happens at any other Spencer’s or stores me or my girlfriend have been to and it was a shame because the selection at this location seemed bigger. Spencer’s is a store where people tend to browse and even if they know what they want to buy it’s typically something they’d rather keep private or go up to a worker for rather than be constantly asked and watched. I understand this is an adult store and there’s likely theft, but me and my girlfriend both work in customer service and the way we are trained to prevent theft is not nearly as extreme as what we experienced when we visited this store. Additionally, other reviewers have similar complaints about being followed and pestered repeatedly so I see this as a common issue with this store specifically. Shoutout to the Asian girl who greeted us though, she only approached us once and actually had helpful info. This stalking other employees did ruined my experience and I don’t plan on going to this location again. Please give customers some privacy or you risk losing them!!!
• What is wrong with that place? They need to retrain there workers. Let people shop comfortably in the adult section. When me and my husband went shopping yesterday there was a little girl who was following us very obvious and too close and making me feel uncomfortable when we were looking to spice our love life up we have a little girl old enough to be my sons girlfriend following us when we were trying to talk about the oils there she was watching us too close and we didn't even want to talk about the oils because thats a conversation we don't want other people in and when I looked at her because she was right there she said "can I help you guys". I said "no can I help you tho". She kept looking and then we left not making our purchase we initially saw online. Retrain your employees please your loosing business as a small business owner.
• I love shopping at Spencer's during the holidays, but not when I'm being followed around the store. The guy at the front was super friendly, 10/10 super positive attitude and had you smiling along with him. But the blond girl…not so much. It felt as though I was wrong to pick up any items at all because she was just a couple feet away from me each and every time i moved. And I do understand why employees would be on edge during this time of year. Im sure there has been plenty of thefts because of the holidays, but at least try to be more subtle. Its like at every corner that I was at, she was right there waiting for me to do something. And it felt like it was just me because there were definitely other customers around. Why not help them too? Really bummed me out as nothing like this has ever happened to me before. Don't know what I did to have a target on my back..
• I went to this store today with my girlfriend when a girl working there started very obviously following us around the back section of the store. Not sure what we did to make ourselves look suspicious. Ive never been followed around a store before. I eventually asked the worker why she was following us and she got angry and said she wasn't. We got so upset that we just left the store without buying anything. We dont need some teenager worker hovering over us while we are looking at sex toys…
